Hollywood Undead

               Hollywood Undead

Is an American rap rock band from Los Angeles, California. They released their debut album, Swan Songs, on September 2, 2008, and their live CD/DVD Desperate Measures, on November 10, 2009. Their second studio album, American Tragedy, was released April 5, 2011. All of the band members use pseudonyms and wear their own unique mask, most of which are based on the common hockey goaltender design. The band members currently consist of Charlie Scene, Da Kurlzz, Danny, Funny Man, J-Dog, and Johnny 3 Tears. The band has sold over two million records in the United States alone, and about three million records worldwide. Their third studio album, titled Notes from the Underground, was released on January 8, 2013.

Their fourth studio album, Day of the Dead, was released on March 31, 2015. The group had the album available for pre-order on February 17. Up to the release of the album, the band released five new singles off of the album, "Usual Suspects", "Gravity", "How We Roll", "Live Forever", and "Disease".
History:
Formation (2005–2007)
The band originated on June 3, 2005 from a song titled "The Kids" that Jorel Decker (J-Dog) and Aron Erlichman (Deuce) posted on the band's MySpace profile to positive reviews, leading them to form the group Hollywood Undead with their friends Jeff "Shady Jeff" Phillips, George "Johnny 3 Tears" Ragan, Jordon "Charlie Scene" Terrell, Dylan "Funny Man" Alvarez, and Matthew "Da Kurlzz" Busek. In an interview with Shave magazine, J-Dog explained that when forming the band "Whoever was in the room at the time and played an instrument was in the band."

Shady Jeff later left the group because of conflict with Deuce, who had threatened and disrespected Shady's family and he had been forced to pull a gun on Deuce to protect himself and his family. He told Deuce, Charlie Scene, and some of their friends to "Get the fuck out of my fuckin' house." Deuce said he would "Fuck everybody up before the cops showed up," so Jeff pulled a gun on Deuce, and told them to get out again. He quit Hollywood Undead as a result of this. Afterward, Deuce claimed in an interview that Shady had pulled the gun on him as a gang-related crime, not self-defense. He currently works as a mechanic and is working on converting diesel cars into vehicles that can run on vegetable oil.
Swan Songs, Desperate Measures, and record deal (2007–2009)
The band only took one year working on their debut album, Swan Songs. The other two years were spent looking for a company that wouldn't try to censor the album. They first signed a record contract with MySpace Records in 2005 but they left the label after the label tried to censor their first album. They then signed a contract with A&M/Octone Records and their first album, Swan Songs was released on September 2, 2008 and reached No.22 on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release, selling 21,000 copies;which was later on released in the United Kingdom on May 18, 2009 with two bonus tracks. In April 2009, the band toured with American electronic musician Skrillex as "Sonny and the Blood Monkeys". On June 23, 2009, Hollywood Undead released Swan Songs B-Sides EP through iTunes.

The band released a CD/DVD set entitled Desperate Measures on November 10, 2009. The set includes a CD of previously unreleased six new songs, three of which are cover songs, as well a previously unreleased remix of "Everywhere I Go", and six live recordings of songs from Swan Songs, and a DVD of a full live performance by the band. In December 2009, the band won Best Crunk/Rock Rap Artist at the Rock on Request Awards. In its first week of release, Desperate Measures reached No. 29 on the Billboard 200. It also peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard's Rock Albums chart, No. 8 on the Alternative Albums chart, No. 5 on the Hard Rock albums chart, and No. 15 on the Digital Albums chart.
Departure of Deuce (2010)
For more information about the solo artist, see Deuce.
In early 2010, the band announced that singer, Deuce, had left the band due to musical differences. Hints of Deuce's departure were noticed when he did not take part in the Vatos Locos tour. After a couple weeks on tour, the band asked long-time friend, Daniel Murillo, to fill in for Deuce's role. This was not too long after Murillo had just advanced past the auditions for season 9 of American Idol. Murillo decided to drop out of the competition and join the band. Daniel Murillo was also the lead singer of the band, Lorene Drive, which is currently on hiatus due to his involvement with Hollywood Undead. Deuce later released a song titled Story of a Snitch against the group, claiming he was kicked out. The band stated that they didn't want to "stoop to his level" and chose to simply ignore the controversy. In mid-January, the band announced Daniel Murillo was an official member, going by the nickname of "Danny".

Not much was known about the situation until the subject was brought up by interviewer Bryan Stars on YouTube. Johnny 3 Tears and Da Kurlzz told the interviewer that the band had to constantly satisfy Deuce while touring. "It was so bad, that I don't think there would've been another record if he was still with us", Da Kurlzz told the interviewer. "We bent over backwards to accommodate Deuce", he said. Johnny 3 Tears, growing weary about the subject, said, "It was just that he didn't like being on the road, so we would have to do things to make him happy. He also claimed to be writing all the songs, and all this B.S.". The band decided to drop the subject afterwards, saying that they have moved on from the situation and would prefer not putting in too much detail.

Martini Beerman of rock.com interviewed Charlie Scene and J-Dog, and the two decided to explain the final events that led up to the split. Charlie Scene told the interviewer, "He wanted to have his personal assistant (Jimmy Yuma) come on the tour. None of us have personal assistants, we're not egomaniacs. We don't need that, and he wanted the band to pay for it and we did for like four months. After that we were like, 'we're not gonna pay $800 a week to have your buddy out on tour'. We went to the airport to fly out for our next tour, and he didn't show up. We were like, what the fuck do we do? We called him and he didn't answer. So for the first 2 weeks of that tour, I sang all his parts."
American Tragedy and Redux (2010–2011)
The band soon began writing material for their second studio album; American Tragedy. On April 1, 2010, the band started its own iheartradio station, with horror and thriller tales. In recent interviews, the band has stated intentions to record their second album in summer 2010 and release it in the fall. James Diener, head of the band's record label, confirmed the next album for a fall 2010 release and believes that it will launch the band into more mainstream success, making it a "big next step" for the group. The band has also confirmed that producer Don Gilmore, who also worked on their debut album, has returned to produce the new album. Recording concluded around mid-November and the band began mixing the album the day after Thanksgiving.

The band began a marketing campaign for the second album. They co-headlined the Nightmare After Christmas Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour to support the album. On December 8, 2010, the band released the artwork for the album's first single, titled "Hear Me Now". The track was released on December 13, for radio and on the band's YouTube page, and was made available online as a digital single on December 21. J-Dog commented that this is his favorite song that the band has done so far. The song's lyrics tell the story of a person who is depressed and hopeless, taking a very somber tone to the track. Despite this, the instruments and melodies contrast to make a "great rock smash", reports AOL Radio blog. Within its first couple days of release, the single made it to number 2 on the iTunes Rock Chart.

On January 11, 2011, the band announced the upcoming album will be titled American Tragedy. The next day, they released a preview of the album on their YouTube page. On January 21, they released a new song, "Comin' in Hot" available for a free download. They also revealed in the "Comin' in Hot" trailer that the new album will be released in March 2011. In a recent interview, the group announced that the official release date for the album would be March 8, 2011 but as of February 22, 2011, it was announced that the album has been pushed back to April 5, 2011.
Notes from the Underground (2011–2013)
Following extensive touring throughout 2011 to promote their second studio album, American Tragedy, and their first remix album, American Tragedy Redux, Charlie Scene announced plans to begin a third studio album in late November 2011. The announcement came after the conclusion of the band's World War III Tour with Asking Alexandria. Charlie Scene stated that the band will begin writing and recording demos while on the Buried Alive Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and begin recording once the tour concludes in December 2011. He also stated the album will sound more similar to Swan Songs than American Tragedy. Commenting on the difference in recording this time around, he stated, "I would say that this time the label gave us full creative control. I think it's going to be more like 'Swan Songs' than 'American Tragedy.' It'll be a mixture of both; I mean, we all grow as artists, we get older, and we've been doing it a long time so I think it'll be more like 'Swan Songs' and I think the fans are gonna like it a lot.
Day of the Dead (2014–present)
In 2013 Hollywood Undead announced plans to release a new studio album early the following year. On April 12, 2014, Johnny 3 Tears posted a photo on his Instagram revealing plans for the band to release a new album in the summer. On October 16 the band posted a picture on their official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages hyping October 21 with #HUDayOfTheDead. On October 17, Hollywood Undead's Vevo channel leaked the audio video with a song from their new album titled "Day of the Dead," although it was removed shortly afterwards. This wouldn't last long as iTunes made the song available for purchase on October 21, 2014, just four days after the song was taken down from Vevo.
On October 21, the band premiered "Day of the Dead" through Revolver Magazine. It was also revealed that the new album will also be titled "Day of the Dead".
The first single, titled "Day of the Dead," was released on October 23, 2014. The second single, titled "Usual Suspects," was released on February 17, 2015. The next single, titled "Gravity," was released on February 24, 2015. Hollywood Undead's new album Day of the Dead was released on March 31, 2015.

Biography:
Personal Background
George Arthur Ragan was born in Los Angeles, California on June 24, 1981. He first met future band mate J-Dog when he was very young, but they didn't like each other when they first met.

He used to date a girl named Carly, along with a few others before meeting a woman named Asia. They have a daughter together, named Ava Ragan. They were a couple for an anknown amount of time. Johnny stated in 2015 that he was single.

Band Position
He is typically an unclean vocalist doing raps in more serious, sad and/or angry songs. Despite this, he has rapped in less mature songs like No. 5 and One More Bottle. In I'll Be There and Sing, he does clean vocals for the first time (for the band). He also claims I'll Be There to be his favorite from Day of the Dead along with Does Everybody in the World Have to Die. He posted on Twitter in January that his favorite Hollywood Undead song is Outside.
Masks:
Hollywood Undead
Johnny's first mask in 2006 was a white goalie mask with huge, symmetrical black splatters dropping from its eyes. The splatters were flowing towards to the sides of the mask. The mouth was covered with the regular silver duct tape.

Later, he changed it to a golden mask. He kept the black splatter but it wasn't symmetrical anymore and flowed straight towards the mouth. The mouth was covered by two black warning tapes that said "Time Again" in red.
Swan Songs
Johnny took a new approach to his mask and made it a sky blue shade with a white "3" on the left side of his face. There was a big black butterfly on his right eye, and four orange butterflies near it. He also had especially big holes cut for his eyes.
American Tragedy
Johnny's mask is now colored with a lighter shade of blue. The mask no longer has the mouth cut and the size of eye cuts have also reduced. The butterflies are slightly more detailed, with the biggest butterfly also having a skull on its left wing. The "3" on the left side is much larger and takes up most of the left side of the mask. The "3" also lights up.
Notes From The Underground
Johnny elected to make the mask look more human-like, as well as somewhat of an artifact. There is a chiseled pattern, as well as minor artificial dust. It is colored with a darker shade of blue. The "3" on the mask lights up in white and it remains large. The small monarch butterflies are gone and the previously black butterfly now takes away the majority of mask's right side. It also lights up in a bright yellow.
Day Of The Dead
Johnny's mask looks cleaner and more streamlined to his previous mask. The butterflies were moved to the left side of the mask, they are light blue on the whitish background. A continuous pattern of the "Dove and Grenade" and the butterflies can also been seen there. The cracks on the mask have been reduced to simple scratches. The "3" on the left side is silver. The upper left hand side and the lower right hand side of the mask also seem to have their colors washed out giving them an almost white color. He also has a teardrop under his right eye in a slightly darker color. It no longer lights up like it did in the previous two renditions.

Biography:
Da Kurlzz is the drummer (percussion drums) for the band. He doesn't often record vocals for the band, but does do a fair amount of unclean vocals. He was the 4th member to join the band.
Masks:
Hollywood Undead
Da Kurlzz's mask in 2006 was basic white with black lips. Before that, he wore a white mask that only covered around his eyes.
Swan Songs:
Da Kurlzz's mask had a smiley face on its left side and an angry face on his other. He had a grey line splitting them apart.
American Tragedy:
Da Kurlzz's faces got switched around with a huge smile being on the left and the angry on the right. The angry side has red arteries that light up. The line that splits it is white, and it also lights up.
Notes From The Underground:
Da Kurlzz's mask has a big difference. The mask is still half-and-half. The left side of the mask is white, and the right side is dark red with brown scales. The red half of the mask is supposed to resemble half of his face blown off and the white half to be melted. The mask lights up, making the blown off half mainly bright red. Neither of the faces feature the half smile like his previous masks did.
Day Of The Dead:
Da Kurlzz's mask is still half-and-half. The left side of the mask is still white but the right side is now gunmetal grey. The white half of his mask is angry while the grey half is the smiling one. It no longer lights up like it did in the previous two renditions.

Band Members Of Hollywood Undead

Funny Man                                                                       Real Name: Dylan Peter Alvarez

Stage Name: Funny Man, King Kong
Born: April 11, 1986 (age 29)
Family: Anna Behr (girlfriend)
Paco Alvarez (father)
Joan Alvarez (mother)
Camille Alvarez (sister)
Luca Alvarez (nephew)
Position: vocals, backing vocals
Biography:
Funny Man is a big live favorite of the band due to his lively performances and crowd hyping. He has been known to jump into the crowd, often be shirtless and sometimes not wear pants. Although he isn't as frequently featured on records as Charlie, J-Dog or Johnny his songs are about partying, drinking, having a good time, and women. He very rarely appears on serious tracks.
Foundation:
Funny Man joined the band soon after it was created by J-Dog and Deuce and provided backing and the ocasional verse on many of their early songs. In the early life of the band he wore a black cloth mask that covered his whole face. Before joining, he was the "groupie" of Johnny's previous band, 3 Tears, being given the title through turning up to all of their concerts. During Swan Songs, Funny Man was regularly featured in songs providing backing vocals. He is featured on nine songs doing rapping and most other songs providing backing.
Masks:
Hollywood Undead
Funny Man's 2006 mask was a black mesh mask on which he usually wore sunglasses.
Swan Songs
Funny Man wore a black mask with three dots on his right side, and his initials "FM" on the other, written in yellow. The mask had an passive facial expression and the overall look of a gorilla's face.
American Tragedy
During his time with his Swan Songs mask, Funny Man grew to dislike wearing masks, so he returned to his black mesh fabric. On the left cheek, the mask has an ironed badge of a screaming skull with two swords and his initials, "FM" along with the word "undead" on the top. The three dots on the right side have also returned in silver but now it has two on the top and one on the bottom.
Notes From The Underground
Funny Man's mask looks much like a the mask of a luchador (Mexican wrestler). It is black with a silver gorilla face as a reference to his nickname King Kong. Just like the previous masks this one features his initials "fm", now moved to his forehead and the three dots on the left. It was a cloth mask with two white laces that had "King Kong" written on them.
Day Of The Dead
During the 2014 tours Funny Man started to dislike his new mask, so he went back wearing his former one from American Tragedy. However, instead of a badge, the mask now has a silver "LA" written on it with the lower part of the L being the A's horizontal bar. The three dots returned to their original arrangement. The mask also lacks some of the finer details from the American Tragedy mask, such as the thin mesh covering the face of the mask, and being a bit smaller, as it does not extend down the neck but ends just below the chin, like the Notes from the Underground mask.

Band Members Of Hollywood Undead

Deuce                                                                                 Real Name: Aron Erlichman

Stage Name: Deuce, Tha Produca, The Wizz Kid
Born: March 2, 1983 (age 32)
Family: Arina Chloe (sister)
Rita Erlichman (mother)
Alexander Erlichman (father)
Left: 2009
Position: clean vocals, vocals, unclean vocals, bass guitar, keyboards
Biography:
Personal Background
Aron Erlichman was born on March 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. He knew future band mate J-Dog from a very young age, and they grew up together.

He used to date two girls named Angie and Sarah, and also dated a girl that eventually died in an automible accident. He wrote the song Circles about her passing. He is currently dating a girl named Athina.
Hollywood Undead
Deuce co-founded Hollywood Undead along with J-Dog and Shady Jeff. He was the lead singer and producer of the band's first album Swan Songs and their DVD/Box Set, Desperate Measures. In late 2009, Deuce left Hollywood Undead after having several problems with the band. He later wrote a song titled Story of a Snitch with the lyrics consisting mainly of obscenities and insults directed towards Hollywood Undead, also making claims such as he was kicked out of the band and that members of the band were "tryin' to spit just like me but they don't have it". Charlie Scene told an interview for "World Famous Rock" that Deuce did not show up on tour after the band refused to continue paying over $800 a week to bring along his unnamed "personal assistant", whom they had paid for nearly 4 months. The band also explained that it was a struggle having Deuce in the group.

In an interview with Bryan Stars, Da Kurlzz stated, "It was so bad, that I don't think there would've been another record if he was still with us. We bent over backwards to accommodate Deuce". Deuce later responded to this in his own interview with Bryan Stars that the personal assistant Charlie Scene spoke of was in fact Jimmy Yuma. Jimmy Yuma said that he was paid by Deuce out of his own pocket to set up equipment for him, and that the band didn't have to pay anything until he began setting up their equipment on tour also. Deuce also mentioned in the same interview that he did not show up to the tour in question because he had received a phone call from the manager previously who claimed the band had "broken up" and was told not to go on tour.

During an interview with JackedUp Radio, Deuce states that one of the disputes he had with Hollywood Undead was over having a personal Twitter account, Deuce claims that when he began to connect with fans over Twitter he was told that "if you keep twittering, you're not going to be allowed to go on tour".
Aftermath:
After he left, he was replaced by Danny in 2009. He has since moved on with his solo career starting with his EP The Call Me Big Deuce EP containing unreleased demos from the mid 2000's and a couple of songs featuring rappers from his crew 9lives.

In 2012, around two years after his falling out with the band, Deuce claimed that he was jumped by Hollywood Undead and was attacked by them after a performance at a night club Angels N' Kings on May 25th. He claimed that Funny Man and J-Dog were the main attackers. This is likely a false claim by Deuce, as Funny Man stated in an interview with Rover's Morning Glory "I've never jumped anyone in my life." and Da Kurlzz and J-Dog both agreed, stating that they also haven't jumped anyone. They cannot talk about this for legal reasons.

Later, in May 2015, Deuce tweeted "you and your faggot ass friend George Ragan gonna go to jail for extortion. fuck u both." to Da Kurlzz's twitter. This could mean that Johnny 3 Tears and Da Kurlzz are guilty of extortion towards Deuce, or it is simply Deuce making false claims.
Masks:
Hollywood Undead:
Deuce's mask was grey, with blue tear-like lines coming out of the eyes, and pink duct tape on the mouth. He said that it was just two of his favorite colors.
Swan Songs:
Deuce had a silver mask with the blue tear-like lines returning. He also retained the pink duct tape but the mask now had a more stylized lip.
The Call Me Big Deuce EP:
Deuce had a bright silver mask. This mask is a lot rounder than his one from Swan Songs, with almost no facial features or definition. The blue tear-like lines are a lot thicker and blotchier than they were in Swan Songs, and they no longer drip to the bottom of the mask. The pink duct tape is back, but is a different color and is slightly larger than it was before.
Nine Lives:
Deuce's mask looks vastly different in comparison to his other ones. Unlike Hollywood Undead, Deuce has a different mask in every music video and even uses his mask from Swan Songs. He alternates between them from time to time. In total, he has five masks (four excluding his swan songs mask).

The main mask he primarily uses is the mask from his Let's Get It Crackin' music video, the blue tear-like lines and pink duct tape have been removed completely, and the entire mask is in the style of a disco ball. It still has visible facial features however, like the eyebrows and cheeks. It also has a slight smirk that is hard to see.

The mask he used in the America music video has the same general shape and some of the molding from the disco ball mask but with a torn up and slightly burnt American flag design. The top and the bottom looks like they have been burnt with blood and excess molding around them. The mask itself has blood splatters and and two visible bullet holes on the forehead.

The mask from Help Me is unique as it is the only mask not to share the shape of his other ones. It seems to be a rubber George Bush mask with exaggerated and cartoony features.

His mask from I Came to Party also shares the same general shape as his other masks (although it's hard to see due to it being one of two masks to have never been shown without the mouth cut out.) It seems to be covered with red crime scene tape with "Danger" written all over it. There is also a black boarder around the mouth hole and around the eyes.

Band Members Of Hollywood Undead

Shady Jeff                                                                   Real Name: Jeffrey Phillips

Stage Name: Shady Jeff
Born: September 6, 1978 (age 36)
Family: Jameson Dean Phillips (son)
Luna Sky Phillips (daughter)
Unnamed partner
Unnamed father
Unnamed brother
Joined: 2005
Left: 2007
Position: vocals, unclean vocals
Biography:
He, J-Dog, and Deuce formed the band back in 2005.

A common misconception is that Shady and Jeffree Star are the same person, but they are not.

A few years after his departure, Shady Jeff threw a birthday party in his backyard, to which he only invited his closest friends and family. Deuce and Charlie Scene showed up with some of Deuce's friends, who Jeff did not even know. Deuce started acting aggressively towards everyone at the party and threatened to start a fight. Shady Jeff said that, if he did not leave, he would call the police. Deuce laughed it off and said that he could beat them up anyway. Shady Jeff pointed a gun at Deuce, telling him to leave. He says that no one has the right to threaten him or his family, in his own house. Deuce got scared and started apologizing saying it was just a joke. Later on, Deuce told the press about what happened and lied about the events. He stated that Jeff pointed a gun at him for no reason, trying to act like a gangster.

Shady Jeff made a video describing this and giving his viewpoint and opinions.

Unlike Deuce, he and the band retained their friendly relations. He currently works as a mechanic and is working on converting diesel cars into vehicles that can run on vegetable oil.
Masks:
His masks did not vary very much. Similar to Charlie, his masks were bandanas.

He wore one black bandana, with red and white patterns on it. He also wore a red bandana, with similar white patterns on it. He also seems to have worn a camo-patterned bandana as well.

Danny                                                                            Real Name: Daniel Rose Murillo

Stage Name: Danny
Born: November 21, 1982 (age 32)
Family: Theresa Murillo (wife)
Scarlett Murillo (daughter)
Rigo Murillo (brother)
Position: clean vocals, backing vocals, keyboards (since 2011), rhythm guitar (since 2013)
Biography:
Danny is one of the current vocalists for Hollywood Undead, replacing Deuce since early 2010. He began to tour with them prior to his official introduction to the band in mid 2008, filling in for Deuce while he was absent.
Masks:
Desperate Measures
While technically not an official member just yet, Danny was touring with the band since mid 2008. On tours he wore a gold mask with black paint splatter on it.
American Tragedy
When he joined the band, Danny's mask was metallic gold with a Latin cross on the left eye. The right side of the mouth also had a small, hardly noticeable grin.
Notes From The Underground
Danny's mask is similar to his old mask. It's still gold but less metallic. The Latin cross appears to be inverted and is made of bullet casings. The bullets are 6.5 Grendel. The darkening splatter has returned and it varies in color. The right side of the mouth still has the grin, but it's more noticeable now.
Day Of The Dead
Danny's mask is now covered with a golden chainmail making it hard to distinguish its facial features. Underneath the chainmail, the mask is black with a cross painted with bright gold around it's left eye. The molding seems to be less angular and more rounded compared to the previous mask, although the mouth is hard to see, it also retains some of its aesthetic features. The strap used to fasten it to Danny's head also seems to have a chainmail aesthetic. It also seems that the masks represents a burlap sack that was used to put on somebody's head before execution.

Band Members of Hollywood Undead

J-Dog                                                                                      Real Name: Jorel Decker

Stage Name: J-Dog

Daniella Marie Decker (sister)
Tyler James Decker (brother)
Michael Andrew Decker (brother)
Evan Decker (brother; deceased)

Position: vocals, unclean vocals, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, synthesizer programming
Biography:
Personal Background
Jorel Decker was born in Los Angeles, California on May 1, 1984. His mother was, as J-Dog describes "a hippie" and his father was a truck driver, and insisted on Jorel becoming a truck driver later on in life as well. He first met future band mate Johnny 3 Tears when he was very young, but they didn't like each other when they first met.

He grew up with Deuce and hanged out regularly with Charlie Scene's older brother, Jake Terrell.

His first musical interest was when his mom took him to see the British band "The Who" live when he was 13, and it motivated him to start making music, and the bass player of the band specifically made him have a particular interest in playing bass.

He also never went to high school or college and was never really "schooled" by his parents due to his mother's disapproval of the public school system.

During his teenage years, Jorel wanted to be in a gang, and hanged out with several members of gangs. Eventually his parents sent him away to a reform school in New Mexico to spend time away from the gang violence and nature of Los Angeles. His father also eventually started working there since his family couldn't afford it. When asked about living there, Jorel stated "I hated it at the time, but in retrospect after I left there I realized that really saved my life."

He was at the reform school for a year, before graduating the program only to be sent back two years later.

After he got out of the reform school, he started playing in several bands, some of which his future Hollywood Undead bandmates were present in as well.

One of his later bands was The Kids, which initially started out as a project with his lifelong friend Aron "Deuce" Erlichman and friend Jeff Phillips. The band went on to become Hollywood Undead, with Jorel being the only remaining founding member.

Around 2008, his brother, Evan Decker committed suicide. Jorel was deeply effected by his loss, and wrote the song The Loss about him.

In 2015, he became engaged to longtime-girlfriend Vanessa James.

Band Position:
J-Dog plays the most instruments out of the band, he plays guitar, bass, keyboard, and synthesizers. He can also play the drums, but does not do it for the band.
Upon creating his mask, J-Dog found a dollar bill next to him. He put it on his mask to make it unique.
J-Dog often provides the most aggressive lyrics for the band. When he raps, his lyrics are about dying, love problems, stronger thoughts, and violence. On occasions, most commonly in older songs, he'll sing about partying and girls, however this hasn't been done recently, with J-Dog being absent from major parts on all party-themed songs in Notes from the Underground and Day Of The Dead other than Up in Smoke and Guzzle, Guzzle
Masks:
Hollywood Undead
J-Dog's mask back in 2006 was a basic white goalie mask with blood flowing out of its eyes onto a 1 dollar bill which covered its mouth. There were also small butterflies around the mask.
Swan Songs
J-Dog had a white mask retaining its previous features. His eyes and the dollar bill now had different patches of blood rather than the blood from the eyes flowing onto the dollar bill. His mask bore a Louis Vuitton inspired design with his initials mixed in with the different shapes.
Desperate Measures:
The mask was basic white without the Louis Vuitton design probably due to licensing issues. The blood wasn't transparent anymore and didn't flow onto the dollar bill. He also had "J-Dog" written on the right side of his mask and "Undead" written on the left.
American Tragedy:
J-Dog's mask is still white and once again has patterns all over it, although this time with a lighter grey color. The mask has less blood, burns seemingly replacing it. Instead of flowing blood, the mask has scars. The burns around the eyes light up with a red color. The dollar bill is now customized with a special face on it.
Notes From The Underground:
J-Dog's mask is white just like the other ones. It still features the patterns as his previous mask did, but they are now green and more visible. The mask still has the orange glowing ashy cigarette burn marks on the eyes. The big difference is that his mask now looks like a gas mask with two canisters on it. There is no real dollar bill on the mask, just a dollar sign. His mask now has the All-Seeing Eye on his forehead. Under the All-Seeing Eye you can read "Hollywood Undead" instead of "Novus Ordo Seclorum". The mask lights on the ashy burning cigarette eyes and the canisters.
Day Of The Dead:
J-Dog's mask is now beige instead of white. The air mask canisters are now gone, replaced by two of the "Dove and Grenade", the band's mascot. The dollar sign stayed but it is now black and more tawdrier. The burning design around the eyes look as if they have burnt out and turned to ash giving it the appearance of cigarette ash. Transparent blood also trickles down from his eyes similar to how his mask looked from Swan Songs. "Undead" is now written at the very top of the mask above the All-Seeing Eye. Like most of his masks, this one features some kind of pattern as well. On the forehead and the nose there are veins, which seem to be the roots of the All-Seeing Eye. It no longer lights up like it did in the previous two renditions.

Biography:

Personal Background

Jordon Terrell was born in Burbank, California on September 3, 1985. He knew future band mate Funny Man from a young age, and they hanged out very regularly growing up.

Band Position

Charlie is featured in almost every song from the band, and usually raps about partying, girls, drugs and drinks, although he has also written verses about emotional, strong thoughts. He is classified as the "gangster" of the band.
Masks:
Charlie Scene's masks have never truly been "masks". The reason for this is because he would rather wear something comfortable, like cloth, than a solid mask.
Hollywood Undead:
Initially, Charlie had no money for a mask so he simply wore a Del Taco bag as a mask with holes for eyes and sunglasses. He didn't like it so much because it wasn't comfortable, so he changed it later in time.
Swan Songs:
Charlie wore a black bandana and sunglasses. The bandana had a white city style drawing with the letters "LA" stylized on it in the shape of an AK-47. The top of his bandana read "Charles P. Scene".
Desperate Measures:
Charlie's bandana had "Charlie Scene" written on it instead
American Tragedy:
Charlie's bandana remained the same as the one he was wearing during Desperate Measures, only with inverted colors.
Notes From The Underground:
Charlie's bandana is the same as the one he was wearing during Desperate Measures but the black is replaced with charcoal grey
Day Of The Dead:
Charlie Scene's bandana looks really close to his Desperate Measures bandana. The image on the mask appears to be slightly different. It still features the AK-47 with "HU" written in it, the city seems to be in ruins, similar to the Day of the Dead single cover, and a thick cloud of smoke is drifting above it. The color of the bandana is black, instead of grey.
